Prior to entering practice today, Canadian physiotherapists graduate with an entry-level Master’s degree from one of 14 accredited universities.

In order to practice, physiotherapists must meet national entry-level education and practice standards, and successfully pass a standardized physiotherapy competence examination to be registered with the college of physiotherapists in their province/territory.

Only registered physiotherapists may use the professional designations PT or pht in Canada.
